about

Lou Carenar

After studying philosophy at the ENS, I turned to filmmaking, taking a course at the INA. I then made my first self-produced documentary, La mécanique des sens (1h), about male sexuality and its stereotypes. The project caught the attention of France TV, and a new production was launched, supervised by ZED. This enabled me to make a produced version of the film, Jouis si t’es un homme (1h), available on France TV Slash.

Self-taught in photography, I first assisted at the Little Grand Studio, before working as a digitech for the Sheriff agency, for brands such as Margiela, AMI, Jacquemus and Amina Muaddi. I am the photographer and art director for a number of personal photography projects, as well as for young brands such as Barkalnd, which creates unisex and upcycled clothing.

Questions of identity, representation and stereotypes run through all my projects.
